If your Dyson vacuum cleaner is experiencing reduced suction power, it may be because your air filters are dirty or damaged — not allowing air to easily pass through the machine. Over time, dirty air filters can also cause the motor in your Dyson to overheat and ultimately fail. So it’s important that you care for the filters inside of your Dyson to keep your machine working its best.
CHANGE DYSON FILTER
Every Dyson vacuum uses a different air filtration system to remove particles in your air. Your Dyson may have one or more filters, depending on if you have a stick, an upright, or a canister vacuum.
DYSON STICK CORDLESS VACUUM
- Turn off your Dyson
- Simply pull the filter out, it’s located at the top of the canister
- Insert new or clean filter back inside the canister
DYSON ANIMAL UPRIGHT VACUUM
- Turn off your Dyson and unplug it from the wall
- Remove the canister from the vacuum
- Lift up the handle labeled, “filter” and pull the filter out of the canister
- Replace the filter and snap it back in place
- The second filter is located in the ball
- Unscrew the ball, by rotating the wheel
- Rotate the filter attachment until it releases
- Replace the filter and rotate it, until it snaps back in place
DYSON CANISTER VACUUM
- Detach the cylinder from your Dyson
- Remove the filter out of the cylinder
- Replace the filter
- Reattach the cylinder to the body of your Dyson
- Locate the second filter, it’s in the ball of the machine
- Rotate the ball lock counter clockwise until it releases
- Press the two tabs out, until the filter pops out
- Replace the filter and reattach it back into the housing; it will snap into place
- Screw the ball back on, and rotate the ball lock clockwise until the ball is secure
