Cleaning Tests
We were able to perform 4 different performance tests on the Jet 90, these included:
- Cleaning Test
- Run Time Test
- Noise Test
- Usability Test
The Jet 75 is identical / comparable in many ways to the Jet 90. Both the Samsung Jet 90 and Jet 75 include:
- 60 minute run time
- 200 AW of suction
- 0.8L dust bin capacity
- HEPA filtration system
As a result, functionally, the Jet 90 and Jet 75 are the same. The only significant difference between the two models are the included attachments and base.
Our test data is based on the Samsung Jet 90. The Jet 90 and Jet 75 are functionally identical so their performance will also be identical. Since the Jet 90 and Jet 75 are functionally the same, we only ordered the Jet 90 for testing.
We have not yet tested the Jet 70, so our data for that model is based on spec data.
Cleaning Test
To test the full range of the vacuum’s performance we performed 12 debris tests. We tested the vacuum on engineered hardwood, low pile carpet, and high pile carpet with 4 different debris types.
The Results
Overall
98%
Hardwood
100%
Low Carpet
97%
High Carpet
97%
The Samsung Jet 90 showcased excellent performance across all floor and debris types. It removed between 97-100% debris by weight, struggling a little more on carpet than on hardwood floor. For this test we used the standard floor cleaning head (the Turbo Action brush).
Harwood Floor Cleaning
Cereal
100%
Kitty Litter
100%
Rice
100%
Sugar
100%
On hardwood floor the performance was flawless. However, we did have to figure out which mode to use.
We started the test on regular power and noticed cereal clogging the vacuum. After which, the Jet 90 spit the cereal back out onto the testing lane.
We switched the vacuum to max power and this was able to improve the situation. We continued the test and the Jet 90 was able to completely remove all the cereal without clogging.
Low Pile Carpet Cleaning
Cereal
98%
Kitty Litter
100%
Rice
100%
Sugar
88%
Performance on low pile carpet was very good. However, it left a decent amount of sugar in the carpet fibers. Additionally, the Jet 90 collected all of the cereal, but dropped 2% of it back onto the lane after turning the vacuum off.
Overall, it still had excellent cleaning performance and managed to remove 100% of the kitty litter and rice.
High Pile Carpet Cleaning
Cereal
100%
Kitty Litter
94%
Rice
100%
Sugar
92%
The Jet 90’s performance on high pile carpet was similar to it’s performance on low pile carpet. It easily removed the cereal and rice, but struggled with kitty litter and sugar.
However, the Samsung Jet 90 performed better on high pile carpet than on low pile, especially in regards to finer debris types (i.e.: sugar)
Run Time Test
We also tested the run time performance of the vacuum. The Jet 90 and Jet 75 are the identical and Samsung states they have a run time of 60 minutes.
The manufacturers say you can expect a 40 minute run time on the Jet 70.
These numbers are for a single battery, on the lowest mode, and in handheld mode without a motorized tool.
We tested the run time performance of the Jet 90 while it had the full-sized floor cleaning head. Here are those results:
Low
43:30 mins
Medium
24:00 mins
Maximum
10:00 mins
We found the run time range to be between 10 and 43 minutes depending on the suction mode.
Noise Test
To test noise, we use a sound meter to measure the decibels of noise created by the vacuum. We took this measurement from about 3′ away.
Low
69 dB
Medium
72 dB
Maximum
74 dB
The Jet 90 had a decibel range of 69-74 dB depending on the mode. This is similar to the sounds of a dishwasher or of a shower.
Because the Jet 75 is functionally the same as the Jet 90 you could expect a similar amount of noise.
Common noise levels:
- 20 dB – rustling leaves
- 30 dB – whisper
- 40 dB – quiet library, babbling brook
- 50 dB – refrigerator, moderate rainfall
- 60 dB – normal conversation, dishwashers
- 70 dB – traffic, showers
- 80 dB – alarm clock, telephone dial tone
Usability Test
Setting up each of these vacuums is simple and essentially identical. The various accessories all click together with a single button attachment. They can be all be used in handheld mode or with the extension stick.
The Jet vacuums were designed to be maneuvered easily and can make tight turns or lay nearly flat on the ground.
The controls are similar among the three vacuums and are a button design to turn the vacuum on and off, as well as change the modes.
However, there are a few differences that affect usability.
- Included accessories
- Run Time
- Charging Base
The Jet 90 and Jet 75 both include the Flexible tool.
This adds some extra maneuverability to the vacuum and makes it easier to clean hard to reach places. The Jet 90 comes with the telescoping wand, which can increase / decrease the length of the vacuum.
The run time of the Samsung Jet 70 is only 40 minutes, which is 20 minutes lower than the newer Jet models. While we don’t find this to be a huge issue, it can affect you if you plan on vacuuming for long periods of time.
All of the charging bases for the Jet series can store accessories, however, the Jet 90’s base has some unique features.
It has a different look, and is free standing as opposed to wall hanging. Additionally, the base can charge an additional battery simultaneously, which can be a nice when a battery dies while cleaning.
Design
The Jet 90, Jet 75, and Jet 70 are similar in overall design.
They all have:
- Multi-floor cleaning head
- Click-in cleaning tools
- Extension wand
- In-had dust bin (similar capacity)
- 3 suction levels
- Washable filter
- Click-in battery
- LED display
- Button controls
The main differences between the models is the attachments. These include:
- Telescoping Wand
- Flexible Tool
- Soft Brush Tool
- Self Standing Charging Station
#1. Telescoping Wand
The Jet 90 includes a telescoping wand that adds the ability to further adjust the length of the vacuum. The Samsung Jet 75 and Jet 70 do not include the telescoping wand.
While all vacuums are able to switch between the extension wand and handheld mode, the telescoping wand is ideal for varying heights and more compact storage.
#2. Flexible Tool
The Flexible tool is included with the Jet 90 and Jet 75. This device allows you to pivot the cleaning head to various angles. This is helpful when trying to clean hard to reach places.
The Flexible tool works in handheld or stick mode, and is compatible with any of the cleaning tools.
#3. Soft Brush Tool
Samsung included the Soft Brush Tool with the Jet 90 and Jet 75, but not the Jet 70. It is often an overlooked accessory, but really enhances hard surface cleaning.
We tested the soft brush with the Jet 90 on our hardwood floor and it was able to handle everything we threw at it.
#4. Self Standing Charging Station
With the Jet 90, Samsung changed the charging station for the vacuum. The vacuum comes with a free standing base, that can store some accessories and charge 2 batteries at once.
On the other hand, the Jet 75 and Jet 70 include a wall-hanging mount. It can also store some basic accessories, but doesn’t give you the ability to easily adjust where the charging base is located.
